Job Summary:

Perform duties relating to the care, upkeep, maintenance, and beautification of grounds of all District facilities. Assist Ground Maintenance Forman in facility maintenance.  Assist the Ground Maintenance Forman in all snow removal during winter months.  Perform light maintenance to ground equipment.  Responsible for assisting the Water Division in promoting the District's mission through great customer service.

General Qualification Requirements

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.  The requirements of this position provide that the employee work in a safety sensitive manner and should carry out his/her duties as such.

Prior Work Experience: One year of job-related prior work experience preferred.
Education and Training: High school diploma or equivalent required.
Licenses, Certifications, Etc.: Valid Utah driver's license

Background Knowledge:

  1. Requires a basic knowledge of landscaping methods and some knowledge of water conservation and construction maintenance.
  1. Requires a basic knowledge of product and services provided by the District. Must have an ability to operate small equipment and hand tools.
  1. Requires some knowledge of building maintenance

Performance Expectations:

  1. Must be able to make logical decisions using generally recognized skills and techniques.
  1. Must have ability to learn and practice proper safety procedures.
  1. Must demonstrate safety leadership by promoting and facilitating the safety of co-workers and the general public. Must perform all job tasks in compliance with GHID safety policies and procedures.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  1. Must be able to use mowing equipment in the performance of the job duties.
  1. Must have ability to operate small equipment and hand tools.
  1. Must be able to verbally communicate with Department Staff and on occasion with the public and business vendors. Must be able to communicate using simple hand signals during normal operation of large equipment.
  1. Must be able to operate electronic devices such as a computer, metal detectors and air monitor.

  2. The employee is frequently required to:   sit or perform repetitive wrist, hand and/or finger movement.
  3. The employee is occasionally required to:   feel attributes of objects, grasp, push, stand, walk, drive, reach with arms or hands, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl.
  4. The employee must lift weight or exert force as follows:

Regularly: 1 to 25pounds

Frequently: 25 to 50 pounds

Occasionally: 50 to 100 pounds

Rarely: 100+ pounds

e.  Specific vision abilities include:  

Clarity of vision at 20 feet or more and 20 inches or less. 

Ability to adjust eye to bring an object into sharp focus.

f.  Must be able to tolorate noise levels from moderate to very loud.

 2.  Frequently required to perform duties outdoors in all types of weather including extreme heat and cold.

Overall Effort and Work Location:

  1. Must be flexible to adjust for constantly changing operations.
  1. Frequent exposure to vibrations and some exposure to hazardous conditions.
  1. Required to wear a respirator, subject to oils, grease, toxic or caustic chemicals, bio-hazardous materials such as sewage and asbestos pipe.
  1. Work is generally performed during normal business hours. Must be able to work a predictable and consistent schedule with occasional after hours work as may be required and determined by the changing circumstances. Must be able to fulfill emergency first response call responding to District emergencies as needed.
